A New and Unique Journal at the Service of Field Actors. 10 March 2009, Lyon

FACTS Reports Conference within BioVision Forum. 10 March 2009, Lyon, 9:00 AM – 6:30 PM

FACTS Reports is part of FACTS Initiative that is a programme of the Veolia Environment Institute

The aim of the FACTS Initiative is to provide a forum for field actors for communicating the results to a broad audience. It promotes activities such as international conferences, training courses, symposia, and educational awards, etc… The FACTS Initiative provides a neutral and independent platform for spreading good practices.

FACTS Reports, which is one of the components of the FACT Initiative, is a new and unique forum that publishes manuscripts and opinion pieces related to field-based activities in the areas of economy and development, health, education, agriculture, and the environment. This journal focuses on activities in developing countries and impoverished areas of developed countries. Articles are submitted to peer review. The main criterion for submission is that the articles describe actions that are useful and can be reproduced. During its first stage, FACTS Reports will primarily cover areas related to economic development and health.

The goal of FACTS Reports is to collect, disseminate and capitalize knowledge and best practices on field activities worldwide. Many field actors implement projects in developing countries to address issues related to economics, health, agriculture, education, the environment and development in general. There are many opportunities to learn from the outcomes of these projects.

This journal is an instrument developed for serving field actors. It allows them to express freely their views and opinions; to exchange experience, and cooperate with other field actors across the world.

FACTS Reports was initiated and supported by Philippe Kourilsky, Professor at the College de France in Paris and Director General of the Pasteur Institute from 2000 to 2005. It is supported by a panel of distinguished advisers that includes, among others, Hélène Ahrweiler, Michèle Barzach, Bernard Kouchner, Federico Mayor, Rajendra K. Pachauri, Mamphela Ramphele, Ellis Rubinstein, Amartya Sen, Ismail Serageldin, and Jeffrey D. Sachs.

FACTS Reports Conference

Created in September 2001, the Veolia Environment Institute promotes foresight reflection on subjects related to the environment in partnership with universities or research organizations in order to shed light on the important issues for the upcoming decades. These investigative efforts aim to contribute to public debate on an international scale. The FACTS Initiative is developed within the Veolia Environment Institute.

The major objective of the FACTS Reports Conference is to present, discuss and highlight important, innovative and highly interesting work from NGOs and International Organisations that help to respond to some of the key global development and health problems of the 21st Century.  The aim of the FACTS Reports Conference is to disseminate this important work and sharing the information on the project with NGOs, International Organisations, researchers and policy makers across the world.
